1976 Tony Dorsett Game Worn, Unwashed Pitt Panthers Tearaway Jersey - With Provenance from Dorsett and Former Pittsburgh Sheriff. Possessing a graceful and elusive running style that was simply a joy to behold, western Pennsylvania native Tony Dorsett attended nearby University of Pittsburgh, where he dominated the NCAA and led the Panthers to the national title as a senior in 1976 and won the Heisman Trophy. Presented here is an absolutely battered, unwashed Pitt tearaway jersey that was worn by the College and Pro Football Hall of Fame running back during his most notable collegiate season.Originally gifted to Allegheny County (Pittsburgh) Sherriff John Parker, the lightweight blue cotton shirt has screened-on numerals on the front, back and sleeves, while a sewn-on NOB is properly applied. Various large tears and a huge vertical separation is through the front of the jersey, which perfectly demonstrates the fragile style of tearaway jerseys from the era. Accompanied with the jersey is a signed letter of provenance from Tony Dorsett, while a copy of a "Sports Illustrated" article is also included, and it was signed and personalized to Sherriff Parker (color copy - not the original). One of the most significant and intriguing Dorsett gamers ever to come to market, it is a true Holy Grail piece for any astute collector of the famed running back.
