1962 Topps Football Wax Box With 24 Unopened Packs! The early weeks of the 1962 NFL season saw our nation gripped with the terror of the Cuban Missile Crisis as suburban families took to underground bunkers in fear of a Soviet attack. While they would emerge once the threat was neutralized, the protective shell offered here was never breached, its contents remaining untouched since its packaging at the heart of the Kennedy administration. A quick review of our various auction results databases reveals that only a half dozen boxes of 1962 Topps Football have tempted bidders in major sports collectibles auctions over the past quarter century, so this beauty, with its twenty-four virgin packs contained within, is sure to draw enormous interest among veteran collectors of gridiron cardboard.

The 1962 Topps football set is packed with stars and HoFers including the rookie debut of Ernie Davis, Fran Tarkenton and Mike Ditka. It is also one of the more condition sensitive sets with the deep black borders giving the most condition critical football fans a level of frustration not felt again until fans of the Topps baseball set felt in the spring/summer of 1971. Among the three dozen HoFers are Johnny Unitas, Lenny Moore, Raymond Berry (SP), Gino Marchetti, Mike Ditka (Rookie), Jim Brown, Lou Groza, Alex Karras, Bart Starr (SP), Paul Hornung (SP), Jim Ringo, Forrest Gregg, Ollie Matson (SP), Fran Tarkenton (Rookie-SP), Y.A. Tittle, Frank Gifford, Sonny Jurgensen, Bobby Layne, Ernie Stautner (SP), Leo Nomellini plus Ernie Davis (Rookie). There could also be any one of the almost ninety players who were short prints.

The outer box is near-mint to mint. The inner packs ware all looking mint are very close to mint. Currently, not a single cards has been graded Gem Mint. For many cards, there is one or none confirmed in Mint. The potential is enormous. Packs have been authenticated. Box comes sealed by Steve Hart-Baseball Card Exchange.
