    An absolutely perfect representation!

1948-49 Sid Luckman Game Worn Chicago Bears Jersey, MEARS A10. You could argue that Luckman was the Babe Ruth of football, taking his sport to the skies as he fundamentally transformed the way the game was played. Sportswriter Ira Berkow proclaimed the 1965 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee as "the first great T-formation quarterback," and the greatest long-range passer of his era, a man who forever altered the nature of a sport long ruled by the ground game. During his twelve seasons under center for the Chicago Bears, Luckman presided over four NFL Championships, and his number "42" is one of fourteen forever retired from service by the Windy City franchise.

Presented is the most important Luckman artifact ever to find its way to the hobby's major auction block, a garment earning every point of its unimprovable rating from the experts at MEARS. It finds the veteran QB as the most recognized and celebrated figure in the National Football League. It's a gorgeous style, crafted from black durene with orange tackle twill identifiers reporting one of the most sacred numbers in American sports.

While nearly every period football jersey has long since lost its crotchpiece due to secondary wear in training, this remarkable specimen bucks that unfortunate trend, remaining 100% complete and unaltered. We absolutely love the "May & Halas" maker's label we find here, complete with a handwritten "SL" identifier. This label anchors a "44" size and washing instructions tag.

The experts at MEARS characterize game use as "Heavy," and we find wounds to the fabric both repaired and unrepaired to serve as substantiation of that adjective. It's one of the most significant NFL jerseys that exists, in hands either private or public. LOA from MEARS, A10. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
