Mid-1940's College All-Star Game Worn Jersey with George Halas Signed Letter. Arresting blue durene jersey is the true embodiment of the phrase, "They don't make them like that anymore." Surfing a wave of American nationalism in the years just following our victorious showing in the Second World War, this gamer pulls out all the patriotic stops, with star-studded shoulders and striped side paneling. Satin number "44" is applied to chest and back in a distinctive and unusual font, and the buttoned crotchpiece holds a great "May & Halas Inc, Chicago" manufacturer's label, complete with size "46" and "Dry Clean Only" flap tags. Light staining to the white numerals and minor moth damage to the felt stars are noted in the interest of full disclosure, but cause no major visual concern. The jersey was once the proud possession of U.S. Military Academy standout Hank Foldberg, who suited up in the shirt for the 1948 Chicago All-Star Classic at Soldier Field, where the All-Stars were beaten twenty-eight to nothing by the NFL Champion Chicago Cardinals in front of more than one hundred thousand fans. The jersey is joined by two signed typed letters sent to Foldberg by Charles F. Walsh of the Los Angeles Rams and Hall of Fame legend George Halas, each on team letterhead, inquiring about his availability in joining the professional ranks following graduation. The letters exhibit original mailing folds and minimal edge and corner wear, but otherwise present perfectly, with 10/10 closing signatures. LOA from Lou Lampson (jersey). LOA from PSA/DNA (autographs). LOA from James Spence Authentication (autographs).

Just wanted to let you know how pleased I am regarding the sale of my hockey jersey. You were great to work with, you answered all my phone calls and e-mails in a prompt manner, and you did a great job marketing the jersey.
