Late 1980's Roger Craig Signed Game Worn San Francisco 49ers Jersey. Along with Joe Montana and Jerry Rice, Roger Craig was an offensive key to three 49ers Super Bowl championship teams during the 1980's, winning the NFL MVP in 1988. Known for a tenacious running style, where he kicked his knees up high to avoid tacklers, Craig recorded 1,000 yard rushing seasons for the three seasons (1985, 1988, and 1989) in which San Francisco won the title. In 1985, he became the first, and one of only two players in the ninety-seven-year history of the NFL, to gain 1,000 yards rushing and 1,000 receiving in the same season.On offer here is Craig's late 1980's road jersey, from the period when he was a league MVP. It is made from a combination of dazzle cloth (which covers the shoulder yokes and sleeves), spandex (which runs the length of the jersey, from the tail through the underarms and sleeves), and regular mesh on the front and back. The sleeves have1" stretched, ribbed, cotton sleeve cuffs and the V-neck is made of finely ribbed cotton for a more comfortable fit. The jersey is unusual in that the majority of Niners shirts from this period were all mesh. Other interesting features of the jersey are the total of forty eyelet holes which appear under the arms and on the sides. Factory installed, their purpose was to tighten the jersey so as to lessen the effectiveness of grabbing by opposing players. "33" is screened in red on the front, back and sleeves. "Craig" is screen in red on a sewn-on back nameplate. A "Russell 48" tag appears in the tail and a NRMT black sharpie autograph appears on the back.
