    Description

Late 1970's Gene Upshaw Game Worn Oakland Raiders Jersey - Six Team Repairs! Gene Upshaw mirrored the organization he helped popularize in the 1970's. The Oakland Raiders were a renegade team which took no prisoners and full of misfits and malcontents. Upshaw stabilized the offense and protected the quarterback at all costs. The six-time Pro Bowler rightfully took his spot among the game's greats with Canton inclusion in 1987.

Caked with solid wear and at least six team repairs, the offered white mesh shirt displays the proper screened-on identifiers on the front, back and sleeves. In addition, the proper Raiders exclusivity and Medalist/Sand Knit size tagging is in the tail. The "G. Upshaw" name-on-back is rare, but did see use in 1979 at a minimum--see our online listing for a screen capture from video of that season's Monday Night Football meeting with the New Orleans Saints.

Gene Upshaw's mark on the game didn't end on the field of play. He gave back to the sport he loved and served as the President of the NFLPA until his untimely demise. Very few things scream Raidahs like this iconic jersey. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
