    Description

Circa 1970 Detroit Lions Original Mascot Costumes (3). Current fans of the Detroit Lions were treated to a nice change in 2010, as their team showed bursts of talent and unquestionable promise during the season where the team remained competitive in almost all 16 regular season outings. Currently, during every home game, and in recent years, the Ford Field crowd cheered on their NFC North Division squad with a little help from the team's mascot, "Roary" the lion. However, Roary didn't always have the same charismatic look as he does now, and dating all the way back to the 1930's the Lions' mascots showed numerous facial variations and features, such as the examples presented in this current listing of the Lion family that graced the Tiger Stadium and Pontiac Silverdome fields during the 1970's and 1980's. Offered here is the complete "den," of mascots from a memorable era of Lions football, which includes a father, mother and baby lion costume. This original full-size set, which was on the field during every Lions home game for many years, exhibits exceptional condition, considering how many times the costumes were used and their age. Cosmetically, everything is solid, with the exception of one foot missing from the baby. The mother has a bit of separation at the jaw, which could easily be fixed, and the interior of the father's head needs additional cushioning, as there are nails sticking through the upper surface. Also included is an extra baby's body (no feet). A great set, which is about as unique as it gets, this is the perfect piece for the Detroit fan who has nearly everything.
