1990-91 Everson Walls Super Bowl XXV Game Worn New York Giants Jersey with Walls Letter. Inevitably, most football games come down to a play or two which will sway the pendulum in one team's favor. It may be a shoestring tackle or a pass which lands just out of the reach of a wide open receiver, but nobody quite knows when that one play will occur. Super Bowl XXV was a fierce battle which wasn't decided until the final seconds. The heavily-favored Bills, with their explosive no-huddle offense, were pitted against a veteran laden Giants team of destiny. Few people gave New York a chance in the NFC championship game when they had to go on the road against San Francisco. A few late-game heroics propelled the football Giants into the big game thus denying the 49ers a chance of becoming the first team to have a chance of winning three consecutive Super Bowls.

One of the men who provided veteran leadership during the Giants' remarkable run was Everson Walls. His tackle of Thurman Thomas with just under two minutes left saved the Super Bowl. After having not converted a third down in the game, the Bills finally came through on third and inches from their own 20-yard line. Thomas took a handoff and cut back into the clear. It was Walls who held Thomas to a 22-yard gain instead of a touchdown. This also made Scott Norwood's eventual field goal attempt just a little farther. Following Norwood's missed field goal, Walls' reaction was captured forever as it was used for the Sports Illustrated cover the following week.

Walls wore this jersey when he helped the Giants upset Buffalo that fateful night. The blue pullover is custom cut above the tag line and features an oversized Super Bowl patch. Super Bowl XXV was the first football championship contest where both teams wore special patches, and this 4.25" patch stands out. Hit scrapes are still visible on the shoulder numbers. The white portion of the ribbed sleeve ends has grass stains. Dazzle cloth shoulders support a traditional mesh body. "Walls" is heat pressed to a nameplate. Walls signed a letter of provenance on Giants letterhead and included this line: "This is not just another Everson Walls jersey; this is my prized jersey worn on 1/27/1991 in Tampa, Florida." While Walls will always be remembered for his career in Dallas, the leadership he provided in New York helped the organization win its second Super Bowl title. Letter of provenance from Everson Walls. Full LOA from PSA/DNA (signature on letter or provenance).
