1982 Ricky Bell Game Worn San Diego Chargers Jersey. Nothing hits home as hard as an athlete dying young. Ricky Bell was just beginning to establish himself as a top-tier running back when dermatomyositis intervened. The illness eventually claimed the star running back's life at the tender age of 29.

Presented here is an extremely rare white mesh jersey that was worn by Bell during his final NFL season. A nameplate is properly affixed to the back, and there appears to have been a different nameplate under it at one time, suggesting it was Mike Fuller's back-up from 1980 and re-named for Bell's use. It displays several small team repairs and tears, perhaps the result of Fuller and/or special teams use by Bell. No tags are present in the tail, as it has been hemmed. Superb gamer from the notable USC alum. Letter of provenance from the Newport Sports Museum. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
