Description

1980-83 Dave Casper Game Worn Houston Oilers Jersey. The prototype tight end of the 1970's, The Ghost was a Consensus All-American and National Champion at Notre Dame and a five-time Pro-Bowler and Super Bowl champion with the Raiders. Dave Casper is also a member of the 1970's All-Decade Team and the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame.

An iconic component of NFL lore in the Super 70's, Casper caught three TD's in the "Ghost to the Post Game," two TD's in the 1977 AFC Championship Game, authored the "Holy Roller," and scored the first TD of Super Bowl XI.

Presented here is his Houston Oilers gamer, circa 1980-83. White mesh displays "87" on the front, back, and sleeves, with "Casper" on the verso nameplate, all screened-on in baby blue/red heat transfers and a "Russell Athletic 48" label in the tail. Also, the underarms and side panels are constructed of a stretchy knit and the sleeves have been customized to Casper's specs. The jersey exhibits fabulous wear including two large team repairs on the verso "8" and a couple of tears on the left shoulder and right sleeve. It should also be noted that the heat transfer comprising the front "8" has degraded a bit. Still, Casper is one of those unforgettable and beloved players and this is a fine representation from his later career. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
