1977 Dan Fouts Game Worn & Signed San Diego Chargers Jersey Photo Matched to 12/11 vs. Broncos from The Dan Fouts Collection. In 1977, Dan Fouts began to emerge as a dominant NFL quarterback for the San Diego Chargers under head coach Tommy Prothro. Although the team finished 7-7 and missed the playoffs, Fouts showcased his elite arm strength and vision, setting the stage for his Hall of Fame trajectory. He threw for 2,535 yards and 14 touchdowns, displaying command of the offense and the beginnings of his future aerial dominance in Don Coryell's later "Air Coryell" system. Fouts's performance in 1977 marked a turning point, highlighting his leadership and precision, and signaling his rise as one of the league's top passers.

Fouts saved this jersey from his playing days and it is surfacing for the first time on the auction block. This jersey was worn by Fouts December 11, 1977 when the Chargers played at Denver. Fouts had 24 completions for a season-high 276 yards in the game. Sports Investors Authentication matched this jersey to that late season gridiron contest. Their letter of opinion references three Getty Images (78197683, 1296970265 and 837829074) as matches.

The neckline is notched, a Fouts trait, which is one of the main reference points. Also, handwarmer pockets have been added for Fouts to keep his hands warm during the cold contest. A few stains appear on the added feature. The numbers and those unmistakable Charger bolts are screen pressed. A number of hit marks are visible on the front "4" numeral. "Fouts" is applied to a nameplate in single-color tackle twill. Period Sand Knit Chargers exclusivity and manufacturer tags are sewn in the tail. Fouts perfectly signed the in silver paint pen and added "H.O.F. 1993" for good measure. Letter of provenance from Dan Fouts. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
