1973 Ray Nitschke Game Worn Green Bay Packers Jersey - Photo Matched to His Last Ever Game! The late Ray Nitschke was the inspirational leader for more than a decade of one of the greatest defenses ever assembled, the 1960's Green Bay Packers. As a middle linebacker and defensive signal caller, he seemed to be in on every play - the run, the blitz, the intermediate passing game, etc. He was a warrior supreme and this late career road jersey is emblematic of his ferocious play.

This jersey is made of white mesh with a screened-on, traditional Packers' sleeve stripe pattern. Nitschke's famous number "66" is screened in proper font and dimensions to chest, back and sleeves. The lower left front tail features dual "Sand Knit" labeling, with the top label identifying "Packers' NFC Exclusivity," and the lower one designating "Size 52." A well worn markered "3" is written on label, which notes it as to be used in 1973. The name on back remains, with screened-on "NITSCHKE" in forest green on the nameplate. A large team repair is visible on the right shoulder, which suggests the jersey suffered from some nice game action during the later part of the Hall of Famer's career.

Packers game-worn jersey expert Guy Hankel used photographic analysis to determine it was worn for part of the 1973 preseason, prior to his retirement before the regular season. In addition, Hankel has photomatched the jersey to his very last game on August 26, 1973, versus Kansas City, and it is accompanied by unimprovable provenance. LOA from Rich Nitschke (states it is "most likely" Nitschke's last jersey - we have since found a photomatch proving it is indeed from his last game on August 26, 1973). LOA from Guy Hankel. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
