1967 John Foruria Game Worn Pittsburgh Steelers "Batman" Style Jersey. The Steelers were perennial bottom feeders for years before finally becoming the kings of football in the 1970's. This jersey style qualifies as one of the more unique concepts adopted by a gridiron team. Affectionately known as the Batman style, this Steelers jersey was used for a two-year span before being scrapped altogether. As the story goes, the players felt the diamond-shaped yoke made them look like they were donning capes. This "Sand Knit size 44" home white jersey was worn by defensive back John Foruria during the 1967 season. Pilling marks and wash wear suggests use. Given Foruria served as a backup in '67, the jersey isn't going to show heavy wear. "9" is fashioned on both sides in black tackle twill. A local Honus Wagner Co. Sand Knit size tag is joined by a suspended size tag in the tail. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
