    Description

1961-64 Hank Gremminger Game Worn Green Bay Packers Jersey, Helmet and Cleats. Heritage Auction Galleries is proud to present the headline lot from the "Hank Gremminger Collection," his game-worn Green Bay Packers jersey, helmet, cleats and pads. Knowledgeable game-worn Packers collectors will agree that it is extremely rare for a comprehensive game-worn offering such as this to appear on the auction block. Accompanied with iron-clad provenance, and displaying amazing game wear, this is as high-quality of a 1960's Packers collection as one will find.

The jersey consists of highly desirable home forest green Durene, while it dates from toward the end of Gremminger's stint in "Titletown." A total of 10 amazing team repairs are scattered throughout this fine garment, while the proper white tackle twill numerals are affixed to the front, back and sleeves. It still shows hit abrasions, staining and additional marks from battle on the historic grounds of New City Stadium, which was eventually renamed Lambeau Field in 1965. An uncommon, but proper "Red Fox [size] 44" tag is stitched in the rear interior tail, while the proper "[size] 44" tag is in the collar, completing the specs on this gem.

Also included is Gremminger's Green Bay Packers game-worn "Riddell" helmet. The proper "suspension" padding resides on the interior of this gold shell, with the "G" decals on each side. Helmet shows superb wear, with "46" stenciled on each side of the green stripes, while "46" is also markered on the white stripe, most likely by longtime Packers equipment manager "Dad" Braisher. Its original facemask is still present.

Lastly, this lot includes Gremminger's original black and white "Riddell" cleats, thigh and knee pads, and white undershirt. The pads have his "46" jersey number on each, while every piece shows extremely nice wear. Without question, the nicest game-used offering representing the Packers star cornerback ever to hit the auction block. LOA from Tina Schooler (Gremminger's daughter). LOA from Guy Hankel (jersey).
