    Description

1957 Frank Gatski Game Worn Detroit Lions Jersey. Wherever Frank Gatski went, winning seemed to follow. The Hall of Famer's career began in Cleveland where he was a part of four All-American Football Conference titles with the Browns. Further success occurred as he won three more NFL titles with the Browns and Lions. A rock solid starter his entire career, Gatski joined football's ultimate team when he received a Hall of Fame nod in 1985.

The venerable center donned this "Rawlings size 50" durene jersey when he put the finishing touches on his remarkable career with the Lions. A spattering of repairs are found in the shoulder area and near the reverse "2" digit. Both sets of shoulder television numbers are 2.5" and give the garment a dose of personality. The single-color white tackle twill numbers show good use as well. The crotch piece is fully intact as are the six buttons. Three tags are applied inside: washing instructions, "Lippman's Detroit" and Rawlings size. "H" is sewn to a swatch in the collar. A Canton-worthy jersey from the man who always answered the bell on Sundays. LOA from Heritage Auctions.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
