    Description

1943-45 Washington Redskins Game Worn Player's Sweater. When the Washington Redskins readied themselves for competition on Sundays, they did so with impeccable style in mind. This eye-grabbing burgundy sweater was most likely used for a few seasons given its extensive wear. The pullover was originally sourced from Redskins equipment staffer Fred Baxter, who worked for the team for years. "Redskins" is proudly displayed over the chest in single-color dark yellow tackle twill. A few minor runs/moth holes are found on front but are not a deterrent. A number of repairs have been instituted on the back to sewn up a few holes. The collar holds a period black Wilson label, "[size] 48" tag and "Dry Clean Only" label. Ribbed burgundy and yellow material surrounds the sleeve ends and tail. Letter of provenance from the family of Washington Redskins assistant trainer/equipment manager Fred Baxter. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
