Description
1890s-1900s Game Worn Football Vest and Nose Guard. Magnificent and rare, here we present a pair of turn-of-the-century game worn football pieces from an era that saw the beginnings of gear being manufactured for on-field wear. The first piece that we present is a heavy molded rubber nose guard, complete with original neck strap and bite marks on the part that inserts into the mouth. The canvas vest was manufactured by New York's Arthur Johnson & Co. and has tagging announcing that fact in the collar. The front is a lace-up and includes original lace. Each piece exhibits signs of definite use, but remains one of the exemplary mementos of its kind.Auction Info
