    1875 Harvard vs Tufts Football Ticket--First "Modern" Football Game. Considered the first modern style American football game ever played in the United States, the Tufts at Harvard football match of 1875 saw significant rule changes which made it far more modern than previous games, including each side fielding eleven men at any given time, advancement of the ball by kicking or carrying it, and tackling the ball carrier to stop play. Orange ticket (4x2.5") reads "HVFNC, Tufts vs. Harvard, Jarvis Field, June 4, 1875. Admit gentlemen & ladies." Comes with "1880-81 Harvard College" academic class listing (with neat folds). EX-MT.
