Description
1931 Rose Bowl Program & Ticket Stub. In just a few month's time, an eighteen year old kid named Paul Bryant, better known to history as "Bear," would arrive in Tuscaloosa to begin his football career. Surely he was playing close attention to this match between his future alma mater and the Washington State Cougars, who would fall to the Tide in a lopsided twenty-four to nothing rout. Here we offer a program and ticket stub from the early Pasadena contest, among the scant few examples to have survived the passing years. The program exhibits a vertical center fold and some paper loss along the bottom edge, but otherwise presents quite nicely in G-VG condition, remaining tightly bound by its original staples. Only typical edge and corner wear is to be noted in regard to the ticket stub. Also here is the front page of the January 2, 1931 Evening Express newspaper recounting the Alabama victory, and a letter responding to the fan's ticket request sent from the Business Manager of Athletics of the University of Alabama, complete with mailing envelope.Auction Info
