1939 Nile Kinnick Signed Heisman Trophy Award Banquet Program. Before his 1939 Heisman-winning season, Nile Kinnick scribed his prophecy to one of the most important seasons in collegiate football history, For three years, nay for fifteen years, I have been preparing for this last year of football. I anticipate becoming the roughest, toughest all-around back yet to hit this conference. I'm looking forward to showing (Iowa coach) Anderson what a real football player looks like - so hold your hats.

The most storied sports figure to come out of the state of Iowa, Kinnick won the Heisman, Maxwell and Walter Camp Memorial awards during his 1939 All-American season, while leading his Hawkeyes to an impressive 6-1-1 record. In 1943, at the age of 24, he died during a training flight while serving as a United Stats Navy aviator in World War II.

The Boston Post's Bill Cunningham stated it best, This country's okay as long as it produces Nile Kinnicks. The football part is incidental.

Heritage Auctions is proud to present, arguably the most significant piece ever offered representing the 1939 Heisman winner, Nile Kinnick. The offered '39 Heisman Banquet program would be worth an pretty penny in its own right unsigned, but this historic artifact is signed on the front page by Kinnick in 8/10 black fountain pen ink.

Consigned by the family of "Stewart Palmer," the original owner of the program and an attendee at the event, it exhibits moderate wear and measures at 6x9". In addition to Kinnick's signature on the front page, it is also signed by his coach Eddie Anderson and three others.

The perfect piece for any high-end Iowa collector, sports Hall of Fame or sports collectibles investor, it is the best of the best, and the first of its kind to reach the auction block. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
