    Description

1911 Carlisle Football Team PSA/DNA Type I Original Photograph - With Jim Thorpe! Despite being undersized compared to many of the teams the Carlisle Indian Industrial School played during its early run at college football, the players relied on speed and guile to remain competitive. The team earned national attention starting in 1899, when the legendary Pop Warner became head coach, and when larger-than-life Jim Thorpe joined the squad in 1907. Offered here is an absolutely beautiful original PSA/DNA Type I "Hensel Studio" photograph, featuring the '11 Carlisle Indians and 12 members of that memorable crew. Measuring at 7x9.25", this piece exhibits an ultra-clean front surface, with black scrapbook remnants on the verso as its only detractors. The players included on this historic artifact are as following: (back row) - Powell, Deitz, J. Wheelock, Bergie; (middle row) - Roberts, Nehasha, Sam Burd, Welsh, Bush; (front row) - Thorpe, Arcasa, Jordan. Spectacular and crystal clear early image of the legendary Jim Thorpe and his Carlisle teammates.
