Early 1940's Tim Mara Handwritten & Signed New York Giants Letter, PSA Auto 9. Tim Mara was the founding owner of the New York Giants, one of the NFL's oldest and most storied franchises. Born in 1887, Mara purchased the team in 1925 for $500, helping to solidify professional football's presence in the nation's largest city. His vision and leadership were instrumental in the growth of the NFL during its formative years, navigating financial struggles and helping to build the league's credibility. Under his guidance, the Giants quickly became one of the league's premier teams, capturing multiple championships during the pre-Super Bowl era. Mara remained deeply involved with the team until his death in 1959, passing the ownership on to his sons, thereby establishing a multi-generational legacy that continues to influence the league today. His contributions to professional football earned him enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1963, recognizing his foundational role in shaping the sport.

Mara's autograph is spectacularly rare, and the subject lot is believed to be the only handwritten Tim Mara letter in existence. It's a cover letter on spectacular team letterhead that once accompanied tickets referenced in the text. The boasting in the printed header lists the last Eastern Division Championship as 1941, so we can infer this letter was written between that year and 1944, when the Giants again earned that distinction. The page is standard 8.5x11" format, folded into sixths and punch holed at top margin. Some toning at edges of the page does not affect the text. Full grading LOA from PSA/DNA, Auto 9.
