    Description

Early 1930's Early Prototype Design for Heisman Trophy by Frank Eliscu. Charming little statue marks an earlier stage in the evolution of the most recognizable sculpture in the sporting world, the illustrious Heisman Trophy. Our consignor acquired this piece directly from the Roman Bronze Works, the producer of the first Heisman, during the company's liquidation. The ten-inch tall statue is crafted from some form of glazed ceramic which provides a look not unlike oxidized bronze. There are no maker's marks to be found, but a signed letter from Philip Schiavo, former owner of the Roman Bronze Works, attests to the trophy's history. Fine condition, with no chips or repairs. LOA from former owner of Roman Bronze Works.
