Circa 2008 Michael Vick Prison Shirts (2) Worn at Leavenworth. While our National Pastime has supplied no shortage of front page scandal over the past quarter century, from the banishment of baseball's Hit King to a seemingly endless "perp walk" of megastar sluggers accused of steroid use, the NFL's nose was kept comparatively clean until a bombshell exploded in southeastern Virginia, when a home owned by star Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick was raided as part of a drug investigation of Vick's cousin and an elaborate pit bull fighting operation was discovered. Vick initially denied knowledge of the Bad Newz Kennels' existence, but the news turned worse as evidence mounted that Vick had financed the organization and had been personally involved in the bloody contests.

Vick's denials soon turned to plea bargaining, and on December 10, 2007, Vick was sentenced to twenty-three months in federal prison, assigned to United States Penitentiary, Leavenworth to serve his term. There he was issued these garments for his personal use, a long-sleeved khaki buttondown and a white cotton t-shirt. To the chest of each is affixed a printed tag reading "Vick M., 33765-183." Each exhibits solid wear.

The shirts were acquired by a source connected to the Leavenworth laundry service.
