2008 Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl XLIII Championship Ring Presented to Defensive Back Tyrone Carter. Selected in the fourth round of the 2000 NFL draft out of the University of Minnesota, Carter saw eleven seasons of professional action before retirement, six of them in service of the black and gold. He'd earn two Super Bowl Championship rings during his Steeltown tenure, and the offered specimen represents the latter.Carter would appear in all sixteen regular season games of the 2008 season, and was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for week seventeen, recording four tackles and two interceptions including a pick-six. That late-season hot streak would continue on into the postseason, and he'd supply two solo tackles in the thrilling twenty-seven to twenty-three defeat of the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII.
This gargantuan symbol of the Steelers' record-setting sixth Super Bowl Championship features six large diamonds on its face to denote the achievement, with further diamonds and other precious stones enhancing the design. "Pittsburgh Steelers, World Champions" stands in raised text at the edges. Left shank identifies the original recipient by surname and jersey number, while right records the final score along with a half-dozen miniature Lombardi Trophies and the logo of Super Bowl XLIII. Interior band holds "Josten's 14K" maker's mark and measures to a size twelve and a half (12.5). Total weight is a hefty 101 grams, nearly a quarter pound!
The ring presents in virtually flawless condition, housed in its original cherry wood display case. Letter of provenance from Tyrone Carter. Appraisal paperwork.
