2003 New England Patriots Super Bowl XXXVIII Championship Ring Presented to Scout. It was one of the most thrilling season finales in NFL history, the first Super Bowl to see both starting quarterbacks pass for over 300 yards since Dan Marino and Joe Montana ruled the skies in the game's nineteenth edition. The 868 yards of total offense recorded by the Panthers and Patriots ranks second in Super Bowl history, while the tally of thirty-seven points registered in the fourth quarter stands alone as the most in any Super Bowl quarter to date. But in the end, the result was downright typical--the Patriots lifting the Lombardi Trophy. Adam Vinatieri nailed a forty-one yarder with four seconds remaining to break the tie and supply Tom Brady with his second ring.

That one is identical in format to the offered specimen, a top-of-the-line model sporting a pair of diamond-studded Lombardi Trophies on the face, along with a team logo and the historic words, "World Champions." Left shank reveals the surname of John Hallum, former head coach at Morehead State who was serving as a scout for the Patriots in 2003. Text below notes the team's unbeaten record at Gillette Stadium with architectural details from that home stadium. Right shank celebrates another remarkable achievement, "15 Straight" victories, above the logo and final score of Super Bowl XXXVIII. At bottom is text reading, "53-17-1," representing the population of players, coaches and owners.

Interior band is stamped, "Jostens 14K" and measures to a size eleven and a half. Weight is a hefty ninety-seven grams (97 g.). Condition is virtually flawless, in original hinged wood and glass display case. Ring is consigned by Hallum's son and will include his letter of provenance and the original certificate of appraisal.
