The greatest Giants team ever!

1986 New York Giants Super Bowl XXI Championship Ring (Strength & Conditioning Coach). Frank Sinatra had it right. New York City has not just been the ultimate proving grounds of our young nation, but a town that expects success, that won't settle for anything less. And so, as the New York Giants Championship drought marked its thirtieth birthday in 1986, the hopes that joy might finally return to the storied franchise had reached the point of desperation. But as the victory tally grew from a meager three in 1983, to nine in 1984, and to ten in 1985, it appeared that the team was finally on a collision course with a bright new destiny.

The Giants would win fourteen games during the 1986 regular season, the highest tally in franchise history, and outscore their opponents sixty-six to three in the Divisional and Conference playoff games to earn a Super Bowl XXI date with John Elway's Denver Broncos.

Those Vegas gamblers betting Big on Blue were not disappointed, as the favored Giants beat the nine-point spread and the forty-one point over/under with a 39-20 victory to set production of Championship rings into motion.

The original owner of this ring, Johnny Parker, served nine years as a strength and conditioning coach under Bill Parcells, earning two rings for that service, both of which are presented in this Platinum Night auction. Included is a letter from Parker attesting that this ring is the only one he received.

The ring design features a real diamond-studded Lombardi Trophy set into a large blue stone on the face, framed by raised text reporting, "1986 Giants World Champions." Left shank identifies the recipient above a figural helmet and the season record, inclusive of the three postseason victories. Right shank reports the final score of the Super Bowl along with the logos of the game and the NFC, with a second nod to Vince Lombardi's eponymous award. Interior band is stamped "10K Jostens" and engraved "Johnny Parker, 1-25-87," the date of the Super Bowl. Band measures to a size eleven (11). Total weight forty-four grams (44 g.). Light wear. Original wooden display case included. Letter of provenance from Johnny Parker. LOA from TJ Kaye.
