"That's better than an Oscar!"--President Ronald Reagan

1984 Heisman Trophy Limited Edition Reduced Replica Presented to Heisman Committee Member. Far rarer than the full-sized Heisman Trophy that has been presented annually to the nation's top collegiate football player since 1935, this scaled-down replica created by original sculptor Frank Eliscu is one of only seven crafted in celebration of the Golden Anniversary of the storied award. Despite its relatively diminutive size, nine inches (9") tall including the marble base, this beautiful commemorative tips the scales at a hefty fourteen and a half pounds (14.4 lbs.), the result of its solid bronze construction in fidelity to the original.

Our consignor's father was the Chairman of the Heisman Memorial Trophy Committee and thus blessed to count himself among the lucky seven to be issued this unmistakable symbol of gridiron iconography. Just as exciting was his role in presenting another to President Ronald Reagan in a White House ceremony on December 5, 1984, scheduled to allow "The Gipper" the opportunity to congratulate that season's honoree, Boston College quarterback Doug Flutie. The Commander in Chief and former star of the silver screen delivers a classic one-liner as he admires the award: "That's better than an Oscar!"

Eliscu's signature is etched into the bronze base of the sculpture, while the black marble base is affixed with a plaque engraved, "Andrew J. Corbett, Jr., In Appreciation, The Heisman Committee, December 6, 1984." A tiny chip to a rear corner of the marble base is the sole condition issue to report, invisible upon display.
