1978 Scott Laidlaw Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl XII Player's Championship Ring. The Dallas Cowboys' road to Super Bowl XII was a fairly easy one. While "America's Team" finished the 1977 regular season at 12-2, a few games ahead of the division rival Washington Redskins, the Cowboys breezed through the NFC Divisional Playoff game by a score of 37-7 over Chicago, and was similarly dominant in the NFC Championship Game, by defeating the Vikings 23-6.In a memorable year when Dallas' young running back Tony Dorsett won the Rookie of the Year, and defensive leader Harvey Martin captured the Defensive Player of the Year, the team led by field general Roger Staubach was set up nicely for its Super Bowl XII matchup with the Denver Broncos.
The two teams squared off at the Louisiana Superdome, and it was the first domed Super Bowl in history. Behind a staggering performance by the Cowboys' tenacious defense, the team forced eight turnovers, and propelled the team to an impressive 27-10 victory.
Offered here is an original Super Bowl ring from the 1978 "Big Game," which was presented to Cowboys backup running back Scott Laidlaw. As masterful as the team was during that special season, the "[size] 11.5" ring is superbly composed of 42.90 grams of glistening 10k white gold, while genuine diamonds fill the center and four corners of the perimeter. "LAIDLAW 35" is presented on one side, while "SUPER BOWL XII 1977, 27-10" is on the other. The ring has been properly stamped "JOSTENS 10K", while it exhibits remarkable condition throughout.
A quick look through our "prices realized database" finds no results for a previously sold Super Bowl XII player's ring, so simply stated, this is the only example ever offered publicly, and it is easily one of the nicest rings we have ever handled.
