The first defensive lineman to win the Super Bowl MVP!

1977 Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl XII Championship Ring Presented to Harvey Martin. His 1977 season is considered one of the greatest ever by an NFL player, a remarkable fourteen-game production that saw Martin compile a tally of eighty-five tackles and twenty-three sacks, the latter a standing Dallas Cowboys team record. As a leading member of the second edition of the Dallas "Doomsday Defense," Martin claimed NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors for the 1977 regular season before leading the 'boys to the Super Bowl XII victory over the Denver Broncos that the presented ring celebrates.

Beyond the enormous historical significance that any Super Bowl MVP Championship ring carries, this model further distinguishes itself as the first ever issued to a defensive lineman, and the only time that MVP honors were shared (with Randy White). The events of the contest clearly merited this break from tradition, as the smothering Cowboys defense forced eight turnovers and held the Broncos passing production to eight completions for thirty-five yards. Total Denver yardage at the close of play was a paltry 156.

Twin stars on the ring face represent two trips to the NFL mountain top, each sporting a genuine diamond nucleus and blue sapphire spokes and set against a field of smaller diamonds. "Dallas Cowboys World Champions" stands in raised lettering at the perimeter of the face. Left shank reports Martin's surname and jersey number on either side of a Cowboys helmet, while right shank features a Lombardi Trophy in miniature with text reading, "Super Bowl XII, 1977, 27-10." The white gold beauty is stamped "Jostens 10k" at interior band, which measures to a size eleven and a half (11.5). LOA from PSA/DNA.
