1973 Johnny Unitas Life Sized Bust by Artist Fred Kail. Widely considered the best to ever play quarterback in the NFL, Johnny Unitas led his Colts to a victory in Super Bowl V, and won a staggering four league Most Valuable Player awards, during his Hall of Fame career. After the majority of his career was spent in Baltimore, Unitas finished his career in 1973, when he retired as a member of the San Diego Chargers.

Presented here is a masterful life-sized ceramic bust of the Golden Arm, which was sculpted by famed Baltimore artist Fred Kail. To our knowledge, two of these busts were created to honor Unitas' retirement from professional football. One was given to Unitas and the other to his personal jeweler. This one is the later, and it measures at an impressive 13" in height. Exhibiting NM quality throughout, it is a piece of Johnny U artwork that would be considered second in significance only to his bust that resides in Canton.
