Elite hardware from the thirteen-season Dallas veteran

1971 Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl VI Championship Ring Presented to Offensive Tackle Ralph Neely.
The twelfth time was a charm for this Lone Star State crew, which finally planted its flag atop the NFL mountain at the completion of a dozen seasons of existence. Though the Cowboys had been the dominant force in the NFC East for six years as they entered Super Bowl VI, they had yet to shake the perception as a team that couldn't win the big game, a widespread impression only hardened by their error-plagued loss to the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl V. But their twenty-four to three domination of the Dolphins in New Orleans proved the doubters wrong, a victory that appears all the more impressive when considering it was Miami's final loss before posting the NFL's only perfect season in 1972.

Presented is the ring awarded to Cowboys offensive lineman Ralph Neely, who missed the big game due to injury, but was still a key contributor to roughly half of the team's 1971 games. Identical in design to those awarded to Roger Staubach, Rayfield Wright and the members of the fabled "Doomsday Defense," the gorgeous creation features a diamond-studded face and the logo blue star at center, encircled by raised text announcing "Dallas Cowboys, World Champions." Left shank provides a Cowboys helmet in miniature framed by "R. Neely" and "1971." The Lombardi Trophy and NFL logo joins text reading "1971, Super Bowl" on right shank.

Interior band is stamped "Balfour 14K," and measures to a size thirteen (13). Weight is thirty-eight grams (38 g.). In the interest of full disclosure, we must note that the top of the ring was once used on his wife's engagement ring, but it has since been reattached to its original band. There are otherwise no condition issues of note. Our records indicate this is only the second 1971 Cowboys ring (excluding salesman's samples) to reach the hobby's auction block. Notarized letter of provenance from Lois Roncal Neely.
