Description

1971 Benny Friedman Signed Letter - With Vince Lombardi Content! Fantastic content in this typed letter on the posthumous 2005 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee's personal letterhead. Friedman writes to George Sullivan, an author of several critically acclaimed football books, expressing his opinion about the best quarterback of the 1960's. "I believe Bart [Starr] was by far the smartest of the group but his true stature was not what it should have been because of the tremendous amount of publicity that was given Lombardi. The domination of Vince took away a great deal the contribution that Starr made. If it had not been for Starr's ability and dedication, Lombardi and the Green Bay Packers would not have been the ball club they were." The closing signature is a black ink (a small amount of blue ink can be seen in the "B" from Friedman's pen that must have run out of ink). The page has original mailing folds, otherwise NRMT. A tough autograph in any format, but particularly scarce on a letter. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
