Description

1970 MacArthur Bowl NCAA Football National Championship Award Presented to the University of Texas Longhorns and the Ohio State Buckeyes. First presented in 1959, the MacArthur Bowl is a trophy awarded annually by the National Football Foundation to the NCAA Division 1-FBS college football team or teams classified as that season's national champion.

The gift of an anonymous donor, the MacArthur Bowl trophy itself is made of 400 ounces of silver, and is fashioned in the shape of a football stadium. Named in honor of General Douglas MacArthur, who shared a particular interest in college football, there is only one MacArthur Trophy, much like the Stanley Cup Trophy, and kept for one year.

The offered MacArthur Bowl plaque is one that is given to a University that won the prestigious award, this one representing the 1970 MacArthur Bowl co-champion University of Texas and Ohio State University.

While we are unsure if this one was once owned by Texas or Ohio State, we are sure that it is indeed authentic and represents only one of a couple to ever hit the auction block. Measuring at 11.5x14", it displays superbly, while moderate wear is exhibited.
