1968 Super Bowl II Pendant Presented To Lionel Aldridge. After a standout career at Utah State, Lionel Aldridge was an immediate rookie starter under coach Vince Lombardi. In his tenure with the Green Bay Packers club, Aldridge took part in three straight NFL Championships from 1965 to 1967, as well as consecutive victories in Super Bowls I and II. He played an additional two seasons with the San Diego Chargers before retiring in 1973.

In this lot, we offer Aldridge's personal Super Bowl II pendant, a simply designed piece with the Lombardi Trophy in the center and a ring surrounding it with the words "Super Bowl 1968." The hanging ring of the pendant is slightly bent, and there is a very light amount of tarnishing, bringing it to a grade of Excellent. Letter of provenance from Vicky Aldridge-Nelson.

    The Lionel Aldridge Collection

One of few rookies ever to start for the legendary Vince Lombardi, Lionel Aldridge was an integral part of three NFL Championships and two Super Bowl victories during his eleven-year career as a star defensive end for the Green Bay Packers, and later as member of the San Diego Chargers. An esteemed inductee of the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame, Aldridge was a popular sports analyst in Milwaukee, and for Packers radio and NBC until manifesting paranoid schizophrenia in the late 1970's. Homeless for a period of time due to misdiagnosis, Aldridge eventually recovered, and became an advocate for the homeless and the mentally ill until his death in 1998. An eternal member of the Green Bay Packers family, Aldridge is represented in the following collection of memorabilia, which was consigned directly by his widow, Vicky Aldridge-Nelson. Each lot will accompany a signed letter of provenance from Mrs. Aldridge-Nelson.
