Description

1968 Dave Robinson Kangaroo Skin Cleats Game Worn in Super Bowl II from The Dave Robinson Collection! While many sports fans didn't understand the full significance of the Super Bowl in the late 1960's, this catalog listing is proof that the Packers were fully aware. Known to have the perfect softness needed to make your feet feel comfortable, kangaroo leather cleats were not something that Robinson ever wore during his football career. But, after defying the elements in the famed Ice Bowl, when the Packers defeated the Dallas Cowboys in frigid temperatures at Lambeau Field, Robinson decided to treat himself to the offered pair of kangaroo skin cleats for use in the second Super Bowl.

They turned out to be a good luck charm of Robinson and the Packers, and as a result Vince Lombardi's squad defeated the Oakland Raiders by a score of 33-14 in front of the Orange Bowl crowd.

Robinson saved them for use again in the Packers' next Super Bowl, but of course that never happened, so he put them away in a closet, and have been there ever since until now. Presented is the only piece of equipment that we know of - not a jersey, not another pair of cleats and not a helmet - to have been worn in Super Bowl II! Exhibiting heavy wear throughout, Robinson's No. 89 is written multiple times in the interiors, while a large tear is displayed in the left shoe. Letter of provenance from Dave Robinson.
