1963 San Diego Chargers AFL Championship Ring Presented to Head Coach Sid Gillman. After finishing the 1962 American Football League season with a less-than-stellar 4-10 record, the San Diego Chargers bounced back the following year in a major way. Behind the leadership of legendary head coach Sid Gillman, the '63 Bolts finished the regular season with a stellar 11-3 record, and convincingly defeated the Boston Patriots in the 1963 AFL Championship Game by a score of 51-10. The historic victory also marks the most recent championship ever won by a major league sports team in the city and county of San Diego.

Heritage Auctions is proud to present what is arguably the most significant piece of San Diego football memorabilia - Sid Gillman's 1963 AFL Championship ring. Obtained directly from the Gillman family, it was proudly worn by the Pro Football Hall of Fame coach until his death in 2003. Exhibiting moderate wear throughout, the fantastic 10 karat gold showpiece presents a genuine diamond in the center, while a "Charger's blue" stone is also highlighted. Presenting "Gillman" on one shank, with the '63 AFL Championship Game's results on the other, it has the proper Josten's "10K" stamping in the interior band. Measuring to a "[size] 13", it will surely stand out in any collection representing one of the AFL's most storied franchises. Letter of provenance from the family of Sid Gillman.
