    Description

Exceedingly rare store display was never available for retail sale

1960-61 Green Bay Packers Oversized Promotional Nodder (14" tall). The term "Holy Grail" is bandied about the collectibles market a bit too freely in our opinion, but when it comes to NFL nodders, there is consensus that the 1960-61 oversized promotional models are fully worthy of the distinction. Considering that the Green Bay Packers collectibles market remains the strongest of all gridiron competition, there's every reason to call the offered lot one of the most desirable nodders on the face of the Earth. Its two-year production era concluded with a blowout NFL Championship victory over the New York Giants, with Army star Paul Hornung scoring nineteen points for the Pack after Vince Lombardi convinced President Kennedy to grant him leave to participate in the contest. It was for this season that Green Bay earned the nickname "Titletown."

Worthy of coach Lombardi's strict standard for excellence, the nodder rates as the most physically impressive of all known specimens, though we must report a degree of expertly rendered restoration to cracking in the helmet. The expanded dimensions (14" tall!), fragile papier-mâché construction and half century of existence of these rare relics have established such condition issues as a practical foregone conclusion, though the presented specimen now projects as fully Mint. We stress that the decals on the helmet, chest and left boot (rare gold NFL shield)are original and unaltered.

With both nodder aficionados and the vast Green Bay Packers fanbase locking horns when this charming rarity takes its turn on the auction block, we expect a fierce bidding war on February 23rd. So interested bidders should remember Coach Lombardi's famous words, "Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing."
