1958-60 Mike Ditka Signed University of Pittsburgh Panthers Outstanding Punter Bronze Trophy. Widely recognized as the head coach who led his Chicago Bears shuffling all the way to a victory in Super Bowl XX, Mike Ditka was also a superb tight end during his college years at Pitt, in addition to his professional playing days with the Bears, Eagles and Cowboys. In addition, Iron Mike excelled as punter in college, and this gorgeous bronze trophy was presented to Ditka for his contributions as the Panthers' punter from 1958-60. Standing at approximately 12" in height, the beautiful award was originally obtained by an acquaintance of Ditka who had an embroidery business and did work for the NFL. He admired the trophy so much that eventually Ditka signed the base of it and gave it to him. Exhibiting NM-MT quality throughout, it's a superb representation of the highly popular Windy City sports figure. Letter of provenance from original owner. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.Auction Info
