1952 Detroit Lions NFL Championship Ring Presented to Pat Harder. Rare and exciting relic is consigned by the family of a man whose heroics in the season's penultimate game were essential in the Motor City squad's realization of its NFL Championship dream. Tied with the Los Angeles Rams at nine and three at the close of the regular season, the Lions were thrust into a one-game playoff to determine which National Conference team would face the Cleveland Browns in the Championship game. On a cold, foggy day in Detroit, Harder bested the likes of fellow combatants Bob Waterfield, Norm Van Brocklin and Bobby Layne to claim Player of the Game honors, posting seventy-two yards on eight carries, two touchdowns, a field goal and four extra points. The Lions' momentum would continue in the final contest against the Browns, earning Harder the ring we present here. Harder would contribute a field goal and two extra points in the seventeen to seven victory.

The fourteen karat gold relic remains in stellar as-new condition, a rarity for period Championship jewelry that often sees its detailing dulled from wear. A miniature football dominates the face of the ring, with an inset genuine diamond and raised lettering announcing "World Champions 1952." Mascot lions pounce toward the ball at either shank, which state "Detroit Lions" and "National Football League" at left and right respectively. "Pat Harder" is engraved at interior band, which is stamped "14K Jostens." Band measures to size twelve and a half. Total weight twenty-three and a half grams.

The Lions would repeat as NFL Champions in 1953, then win the fourth in franchise history four years later in 1957. Well over half a century later, the resilient residents of Detroit continue to await the ring that will adorn the thumb. Until then, the Lions faithful must make do with this special Eisenhower-era artifact
