    Description

1937 Washington Redskins Team Signed Panoramic Photograph. Arguably the most coveted of all Washington Redskins team signed photographs for a number of reasons. First, this squad represents the very first Redskins team to call our Nation's Capital home. Secondly, with a twenty-eight to twenty-one victory over the New York Giants, fueled by 352 yards through the air from the arm of Hall of Fame quarterback Sammy Baugh, the Redskins captured the NFL Championship this season. And finally, the tremendously desirable panoramic style of photograph, worth a considerable sum in its unsigned state, offers splendid black fountain pen signatures from all pictured, each tagging his autograph with the name of his alma mater. Highlights include Cliff Battles (W. Va. Wesleyan), Turk Edwards (Wash. State), Sam Baugh (T.C.U.), Ed Justice (Gonzaga U.), Wayne Millner (Notre Dame) and Dixie Howell (Alabama). Only a single (unlisted) signature drops below a solid 8/10, and just barely. The sepia toned image is inscribed in an unknown hand, "To Our Friend Rush Meadows - All-American, U.S.C., 1912, From His Friends, The Washington Redskins." The image shows a pattern of foxing throughout, but this does very little to affect the considerable display value. Original frame is missing its glass, and measures 10x38.5". Image quality is simply superb, offering unbeatable views of these early football legends. A truly exceptional piece documenting this historic franchise's earliest days. LOA from PSA/DNA.
