1931-33 Fred Carideo Notre Dame Fighting Irish Blanket. Heavy wool navy blue blanket was once the proud possession of Fred Carideo, cousin of Frank, the two-time All-American quarterback for Knute Rockne and the most important football team of its age, the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Fred's name is embroidered at a corner of the blanket, and a large "ND" logo, similar in construction to those one would expect to find on a letterman's jacket, appears at center. Manufacturer's label from nearby Bloomfield, Indiana is affixed at edge. Decorative yellow stitching rings the perimeter. A rare and intriguing artifact from the center of the football world at the time of issue.
