1918 Curly Lambeau Signed, Handwritten Letter and Envelope - Early Exemplar from Only Season at Notre Dame. The heart and soul of the early Green Bay Packers, who provides his name to their "frozen tundra," Earl L. Lambeau sent his soon-to-be wife, Marguerite Van Kessel, this truly historic letter during the only season that he played for the coaching legend Knute Rockne's Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Including its original mailing envelope that is signed and addressed in fountain pen ink "Earl L. Lambeau Notre Dame Indiana". The offering also features a 5x8" handwritten letter (three pages, written on one side each - glue remnants on back of page 3), which is also signed "With Love Earl".

The following are excerpts from the letter, all written in Lambeau's hand:

There is no cause for worry about my draft card. The Green Bay Local draft board have nothing to do with me. I am in the hands of the board at Notre Dame ... I like this place better every day ...

Dated October 10, 1918, during the peak of the collegiate football season, the high grade letter will potentially fill the void of not only advanced Packers collectors, but Notre Dame historians, alike. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from SGC.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
