Description
Mid 1980's Dan Fouts Game Worn San Diego Chargers Helmet from The Dan Fouts Collection. A seminal figure in the evolution of the vertical passing game, Dan Fouts epitomized the cerebral and high-octane ethos of Don Coryell's offensive philosophy. In the mid-1980s, even as physical tolls mounted, Fouts demonstrated remarkable resilience and field vision, eclipsing 3,600 passing yards in 1985. His late-career precision, command of complex route trees, and orchestration of tempo underscored his enduring intellectual mastery and cemented his legacy as an architect of modern aerial offense. Here we present a terrific game-worn helmet that originates from The Dan Fouts Collection, and it is one that he wore near the end of his storied tenure in San Diego. Exhibiting solid wear throughout, it features his original 12-point suspension padding, while original leather jaw pads remain intact. The proper No. 14 decal is on the back, and a yellow original facemask also remains. Time clock dates to 1973, and there is also remnants of a reconditioning sticker in the interior. One of the nicest Fouts helmets in the hobby. Letter of provenance from Dan Fouts. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
