Description

Late 1960's/ Early 1970's Don Maynard Game Worn, Signed New York Jets Helmet. A favorite target of Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Namath, Don Maynard was the man that "Broadway Joe" looked for first when fading back to pass. The very first player to sign with the New York Titans in 1960, Maynard wore this popular style New York Jets shell during the late 1960's-early 1970's. A superb example, which was originally obtained from the Texas Western alum about five years ago by a conscientious collector, this "Riddell" 12-point suspension helmet has "13" markered in the left interior, in addition to "13 Maynard" on the opposite side. Its original jaw pads and crown donut are no longer present, but a solid black sharpie signature and inscription make up for their absence. Notably, a personal address sticker from Maynard is affixed in the interior. One of the nicest examples worn by the Super Bowl III champion, Maynard is one of few players to have his jersey number retired by the Jets. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication (autographs). Pre-Certified by PSA/DNA (autographs).
