Description
Early to Mid 1970's Fred Biletnikoff Game Worn, Signed Oakland Raiders Helmet. This first consensus All-American football player in Florida State University history was actually chosen in the third round of the NFL draft but opted instead for the Oakland Raiders of the AFL, beginning a relationship with the franchise which would survive until his retirement as the team's wide receiver coach in January 2007. The six-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl XI Champion first wore this Riddell 12-point suspension helmet during the early 1970's throughout the 1975 season. It was most likely cracked on the right side in 1975, a season in which it had a two-bar facemask attached. After it was taken out of circulation, a single-bar facemask was put on the shell to present the style Biletnikoff was most known for wearing. Exhibiting heavy wear throughout, it is signed on the side of the shell and chinstrap in black ink. In addition, a "25" and 70" is markered on the interior padding, while a vintage "FB" is markered near the interior ear hole. Mid 1970's block numeral "25" font style is on the rear, completing this gridiron beauty. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication (autograph).Auction Info
