Description

2005-06 Michael Strahan Game Worn New York Giants Helmet--Photo Matched to 1/8 Wild Card Game vs. Panthers.

UPDATE: A couple of errors in the catalog's printed text relating to the score of the game have been corrected in this online listing. This helmet was originally acquired from Giants equipment managers Ed and Joe Skiba.

One of the most polarizing football players in history, both on and off the field, Michael Strahan struck fear into every opposing quarterback he faced, while capturing the hearts of countless Giants fans during his Hall of Fame playing career. Nevertheless, Strahan may currently be even be more popular than ever after adding a new demographic of admirers due to his role as co-host on the popular national television show "Good Morning America."

The Hall of Famer wore this helmet January 8, 2006 when his Giants fell to Carolina in a Wild Card game 23-0. We were able to link this to the early January contest at the Meadowlands by matching a yellow mark on the right side's "Y" team decal which is found on Getty Images #82904657. Another scuff just below the red stripe on top also matches favorably. The helmet shows good overall use with scuffs and abrasions from line battles. An Oakley visor is fitted on the facemask. We were told this was the only time Strahan wore a visor like this. "92"is properly placed on the front and back. American flag, NFL and transparent warning stickers join the reverse numbers. The inside has worn padding, a circular "92" decal and black bladder. LOA from Resolution Photomatching. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
