Description

1987 Troy Aikman Game Worn UCLA Bruins Helmet. One of the most prolific quarterbacks in football history, Troy Aikman won the prestigious Davey O'Brien Award as a UCLA Bruin senior in 1988, and finished third for that season's Heisman Trophy Award. The first overall pick by the Dallas Cowboys in the 1989 NFL Draft, Aikman wasted little time in catapulting America's Team to one of the most dominant of the 1990's, where he led his team to three Super Bowl championships.

Offered here is an historic UCLA Bruins helmet that Aikman wore during his college days, and it is easily one of the nicest ever to hit the auction block. Displaying the all-important "AIKMAN" blue Dymotape identifier in the interior, it was worn in 1987, as our research has found Aikman wearing "Bike" instead of "Air" shells during the earlier part of his college career. Exhibiting heavy wear throughout, it presents its original facemask that is connected by "87" clips. The mask dates to September of 1987, while a 1988 reconditioning sticker is in the interior. An absolutely amazing shell representing a true gridiron hero, who is enshrined in both the Pro Football and College Football Halls of Fame. Letter of provenance from Ian Kindler. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
