1915 Oklahoma vs. Texas Game Worn Helmet and Pants. There are few rivalries in the sporting world that hold the same significance and excitement as the annual college football meeting between Oklahoma and Texas. Dubbed "The Red River Rivalry," by sports enthusiasts throughout the years, we are proud to offer the event's earliest game-worn offering ever to hit the auction block. Originally obtained from the consignor's grandfather, who attended the 1915 OU vs. Texas game with his father, presented is a pair of pants and the helmet worn by a member of the Oklahoma Sooners, which was obtained that very day. From the victorious Oklahoma squad, who won 14-13, in that historic contest, the equipment is accompanied with a signed letter of provenance from our consignor, who's great grandfather was a wealthy cattle rancher in Oklahoma, and presumably had many connections to the team. The helmet is a "Rawlings 172" dark brown leather style, which properly dates to the mid-teens. It shows heavy wear, with a small tear near the right ear hole in the interior padding. The pants also show solid wear, while presenting a "Schmelzer KC Mizzou" label in the waist. Pants have wooden thigh pads still intact, in addition to built-in knee and hip pads. Also included is a pair of heavily used leather gloves, which were found in an old trunk with the Oklahoma equipment. Any OU or Texas alum will most likely salivate at the thought of any game-worn piece from this great rivalry, and pieces from one of the earliest and most exciting meetings will definitely draw a huge amount of attention on both sides of the Red River. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Letter of provenance from the great grandson of original collector.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
