Exhibiting moderate wear and Metropolitan Stadium dirt on the strings, it features unblemished paint throughout. Letter of provenance from Paul Krause.

The Collection of Pro Football Hall of Famer Paul Krause

Paul Krause's gridiron brilliance started as a two-way star at the University of Iowa, where he possessed all-around talent as the Hawkeyes' standout wide receiver and defensive back. In addition, Krause also played collegiate baseball, where he earned All-American honors and was drafted into the Major Leagues. After he injured his shoulder during his junior year, Krause opted to stick with football, and in 1964 he was drafted in the second round by the Washington Redskins.
While playing in the nation's capital during his rookie year, Krause led the NFL in interceptions with twelve, including interceptions in seven straight games. His defensive dominance continued, as he intercepted a total of twenty-eight passes in his first four seasons with the Redskins. In 1968, the Flint, Michigan native was traded to the Minnesota Vikings, with whom he would appear in three Super Bowls and six Pro Bowls.
The NFL's all-time leader in interceptions with eighty-one, Krause is enshrined in both the Vikings Ring of Honor, and as a member of the Redskins' 70th Anniversary Team. In 1998 he claimed the sport's greatest honor when he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Heritage Auctions is proud to present the following lots from The Paul Krause Collection, an array of artifacts that were proudly displayed in his St. Paul, Minnesota residence until now. Each lot will be accompanied by a letter of provenance from Mr. Krause.

    More Information:

We would like to stress that in the NFL's history, various teams used game-used footballs for presentational game balls and some simply used game-issued balls that were never used. All the Paul Krause presentational balls offered in this auction were used in the game, and were most likely interception balls. Krause kept the majority of his interception balls and decades later the Vikings offered to have each labeled and professionally painted. The Wilson NFL (Rozelle) ball exhibits moderate wear throughout.
